# Plans and license keys

> What a free Server includes, what a Business key adds, and what happens when a key expires.

L4 on your own infrastructure is free. A free Server has the full product with one [Space](/docs/concepts/spaces), and no limit on people, history, Tasks or Agents.

A **Business key** adds unlimited Spaces, and company features as they arrive. It is one flat subscription per Server, with no charge per person.

## Add a key

1. In **Server settings > Plan**, copy your **Server UUID**.
2. Buy Business for that UUID on [llll.gg](https://llll.gg/pricing). Your billing page then shows a license key.
3. Paste the key under **Server settings > Plan**.

Only the Server Owner can see or change the plan. A key works only on the Server UUID it was bought for, and any other Server refuses it.

## Your Server stays private

A key is checked on your Server, offline. Nothing is sent to L4 when a key is added or checked.

A key lasts until shortly after the paid period ends, so each period needs a new one. Either paste it from your billing page, or turn on **Renew the key automatically**. It is off unless you turn it on. When on, near the end of a period your Server sends its UUID and current key to `llll.gg`, and nothing else.

## When a key expires

If a payment fails or you cancel, Business keeps working through a grace period: 14 days after a failed payment, 7 after a cancellation. After that:

- **Your Server and everything in it keep working.** Chat, Tasks, Agents, files and Data are not affected.
- **Every Space stays.** Spaces beyond the first are not deleted or hidden, and people keep using them.
- **Only creating another Space is refused,** and changing the settings of company features.
- **Company features you already set up keep working.** Sign-in in particular never changes because a key expired.

Paste a current key at any time and everything is available again.
